Kate McLetchie, Executive Director
With over ten years experience in environmental conservation, international development, and nonprofit operations, Kate joined the ARC team in November 2009 from Morocco, where she had served for two years as the first Country Director of the High Atlas Foundation. Previously she raised funds as part of the development team at Echoing Green to support emerging social entrepreneurs around the world. Kate first discovered her love for Africa when she joined the Peace Corps after college and was assigned to work in a small village in rural Morocco as a community development volunteer – a life changing experience that found her reading by candle light, making daily trips to the river to collect her drinking water, and working with the local women's association to create income generation and literacy projects. When not reminiscing about her days of living abroad, Kate is busy at ARC spearheading fundraising and communications initiatives and running the day-to-day operations of the organization. She also serves as the Vice Chair for the Board of Directors of CorpsAfrica, a newly launched national service program for Africans. Kate holds a MS in marine and atmospheric science from Stony Brook University (2005), and a BA in biology from Wheaton College, MA (2001).
